In February 2007, a group of passionate people gathered together to share a vision and to dream a dream. From this gathering the Irish Cultural Centre of Long Island and the Great Hunger Memorial was born.
At that historic meeting steps were taken to commence establishment of a New York State Limited Liability Company and to register as a 501c3, Not-for-Profit organization.
Our Eastern Long Island Campus: A Regional Center for Historic Irish Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Irish Music, Dance,Theatre, Art, Language, Literature, Genealogy, and Sports
Located just beyond the end of the Long Island Expressway, approximately 95 miles east of New York City, our proposed 40-acre campus is situated on the east end of Long Island. The campus will have an authentic restoration farm typical of a farm from 19th century Ireland, an extensive Activity Centre with performance and function space, a library, children's play area and an athletic field. The Irish Cultural Centre and Great Hunger Memorial campus will also be home to a world-class, awe-inspiring memorial to the victims of An Gorta Mor. The Great Hunger Memorial will be called:
*UPDATE*
The new parcel has been located and is being evaluated for use for the ICCLI. Now we need to aggressively raise funds to make this dream a reality. Located on the east end of Long Island is a fantastic parcel of farmland that is ideal for our project. The farm is also the proposed site for the Abbess Farms Foundation Project USA, a state of the art Veteran's facility envisioned by Marie Tooker. ICCLI presently plans on working closely with Abbess Farms Foundation and Marie Tooker to make both visions a reality and to coordinate opportunities to be mutually beneficial to both projects.
Our initial efforts for funds will be through Founding Memberships. We have grant writers working on applications at this very moment but we still need to proactively raise funds and awareness through Memberships.

"The campus of the Irish Cultural Centre of Long Island will serve as a living museum : animals are tended, bread is baked, milk is churned, walls are whitewashed and roofs are thatched. You may visit an Irish farmhouse, watch the blacksmith fit a horseshoe, attend a weaving demonstration, and bake and eat scones at the local tea house. "
